Project Manager
A rare opportunity for a high-level Project Manager with client side refurbishment project experience, to join an innovative building and site investigation consultancy in Cambridge.
The role
You’ll be working with a team specialising in lifecycle building remediation, bespoke geophysical testing and site investigation of historical buildings, infrastructure and commercial projects. This is a key role for a Project Manager to take a high-level overview of programme and client management on projects across the business.
As Project Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of technically complex projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget. You'll act as a key contact for clients throughout the lifecycle of each project, building strong relationships that support long-term partnerships and repeat business, while keeping clients and stakeholders informed of progress, key findings, risks and delivery dates.
You will also support the preparation of project proposals, programmes and commercial estimates, working closely with technical and commercial colleagues, and be involved in scoping activities including site visits and client meetings. Day to day, you'll coordinate internal technical teams, subcontractors and external stakeholders, monitor budgets, resources and programme, and manage the reporting, documentation and quality assurance that keeps projects on track.
There's a leadership element to the role too - mentoring junior team members, promoting collaborative working across project and technical teams, and contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement of systems and processes.
What's on offer
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to step into a senior, client-facing role with genuine autonomy and real influence over how projects and processes are delivered as the business scales
You'll be joining a well-established, independent and growing technical consultancy with an outstanding reputation, unique projects from castles, museums to infrastructure and commercial buildings, and a diverse and international client base. No two projects are the same, and you'll have genuine ownership of clients, along with the opportunity to shape internal project management practices as the company grows. Work from either a Hertfordshire or Cambridgeshire based office with one day a week travelling to visit UK wide projects.
To apply
You'll need broad, demonstrable experience managing refurbishment projects in relation to the existing building structure, building durability and extending lifecycles. Experience commissioning or managing a range of surveys or investigation consultants and contractors is highly desirable. Strong client and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with experience managing budgets, schedules, risks and resources. APM, PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent and a technical background such as MCIOB, MRICS or similar is beneficial but not essential.
