Clerk of Works

A senior, site-based quality and compliance role with a Thetford-based multidisciplinary contractor design team, working across building and civil engineering projects from £0.1m to £30m+.

The role

You will work alongside site teams to make sure quality standards, the employer's requirements and statutory obligations are met across a varied project portfolio. It is a hands-on quality, compliance and problem-solving role for someone who takes pride in getting it right on site.

  • Develop and monitor Project Quality Plans, testing processes and procedures.
  • Review works on site and report on best practice, items for the design team, and any non-conformance.
  • Provide construction materials support — inspection, testing, specification guidance and monitoring of complex or high-quality works.
  • Engage with specialist teams to resolve technical and design matters.

What's on offer

A genuinely mixed project background — education, retail, commercial, industrial, medical and research facilities through to award-winning residential and Passivhaus developments — and a team where your judgement is trusted and you help mentor others.

About you

  • Around 15 years' construction experience gained with a main contractor.
  • A background as a site manager, Clerk of Works, site quality or inspection professional.
  • A strong eye for quality and detail, and the standards knowledge to back it (e.g. Building Regulations).
  • ICWCI membership, or working towards it, is an advantage.
